Gift ideas for Mother's Day are in the minds of many people and children, as the Mother's Day approaches each year. The majority of us probably considers buying something special, some kind of a material gift for a mother so she can feel the love and care that she deserves. However, what makes a mother (and a father) especially loved and cared is more than a material gift on Mother's day, but a sincere love, appreciation and a sense of closeness.
Few rhetorical questions are due here for reflective consideration. Surely, Mother's day is a great time of year to send flowers, a card, or give a special gift to a mother, but ask yourself: how many times a year do you call your mother; how many times a year do you see her, how many times do you listen to and ask for her opinion or advice?
At a mall a middle aged lady shopping next to me and buying gifts was talking to her mother. She was so loud that it was impossible not to hear her. At some point she had an argument with her mother and hang up her cell phone on her. How rude and incorrect in behavior... Regardless of the argument how can a human being treat a mother who gave birth and cared for you, when you were little and helpless...
Gifts are good for Mother's day, but as Jesus cares for spiritual renewal on Christmas day and not much about the commercial gifts, same with our mothers. The best Mother's day present may be the sincere hug and pouring of your heart into the arms of your mother.
Call your mother. Give her the gift of time. Mothers are here for us not only on Mother's day, but also the other 364 days. Surely they deserve many more days. Being more creative, loving and more personal would make the best gift of love that you could give to your mother.
